The Treatment
What is a Deep Tissue massage?
Deep tissue massage uses slow, deliberate pressure through the thumbs, knuckles, forearms and elbows to reach the deeper muscle layers and the fascia around them. Where Swedish works the surface for relaxation, deep tissue targets the structures behind chronic stiffness, recurring pain and restricted movement.
It is not simply a firmer Swedish massage. It is a different therapeutic approach: working across the muscle fibres to break down adhesions, releasing trigger points that refer pain elsewhere, and returning muscles that have locked into tension back to normal function.
At Aurrum, Nelly begins every session with a postural and movement assessment before a single stroke, then works from a structural understanding of your tension. Genuine deep tissue is controlled and purposeful; discomfort should feel productive, never harmful.

Deep Tissue massage FAQ
Is deep tissue massage painful?
Some discomfort is normal in areas of chronic tension, often described as good pain, the productive feeling of release. It should never feel harmful, and the pressure adjusts the moment you ask.
Will I be sore afterwards?
Mild soreness for 24 to 48 hours is normal, similar to post-exercise fatigue. Drink plenty of water to flush the tissue.
How many sessions will I need?
For acute tension, 1 to 2 sessions may be enough. For patterns built over months or years, a series of 4 to 6 sessions spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart is more realistic.
Can deep tissue make an injury worse?
Not if disclosed. Always tell your therapist about any recent or active injury. Acute inflammation is a contraindication; deep tissue is for chronic and post-acute recovery.
What should I do before the session?
Avoid the gym the same day, stay hydrated, skip a large meal beforehand and arrive about 10 minutes early for the intake form.
