The Treatment
What is a Hot Stone massage?
Hot stone massage is thermotherapy combined with traditional technique. Smooth volcanic basalt stones, chosen for their density and heat retention, are warmed to between 50 and 55°C and used both as placement therapy on key tension points and as active massage tools worked across the body.
The heat penetrates several centimetres deeper into muscle than hands alone, expanding blood vessels, boosting circulation and allowing a level of release that would otherwise take far more pressure. The result is a treatment that is at once deeply therapeutic and profoundly sedating.
At Aurrum, Sabina is trained in thermotherapy and uses professional-grade basalt held at a precise, consistent temperature throughout. The stones are never cold and never uncomfortably hot, and you can ask for cooler stones at any time.

Hot Stone massage FAQ
Will the stones be too hot?
No. Stones are held between 50 and 55°C, warm and deeply comfortable rather than burning. Sabina checks your response in the first minutes and adjusts if needed.
Is hot stone massage suitable for everyone?
Not for those with active inflammation, nerve damage, diabetes with poor sensation, very sensitive skin or during pregnancy. Please disclose any medical conditions at booking.
How is hot stone different from deep tissue?
Deep tissue reaches depth through manual pressure; hot stone reaches similar depth through heat, making it a better choice if you prefer less intense pressure.
Can I combine hot stone with another treatment?
In a 90-minute session Sabina can weave in elements of Swedish or deep tissue alongside the stones. Just mention it when you book.
How will I feel afterwards?
Very calm, often sleepy. Avoid demanding activities straight afterwards and hydrate well.
